The Ohio University History Department invites proposals for its 14th Annual Undergraduate History Conference. This year's conference will be take place via Microsoft Teams on Friday, March 26.
The History Conference offers students an opportunity to publish their work in a conference format, engage peers and faculty members in academic dialogue, and experience a fundamental part of the historian's profession. Students who wish to pursue graduate studies, a career in public history, or a profession that requires experience with research, writing, or public speaking are strongly encouraged to participate.
Who can participate?
Undergraduate students in their junior or senior year who have produced a research history paper or are working on an Honors Tutorial College or honors thesis.
What to expect?
Each speaker will have 15 to 20 minutes to present a paper. This means papers should be 8 to 10 double-spaced pages long. The Conference Planning Committee will work closely with interested students to prepare papers for presentation, especially if they have not delivered a paper in this format before.
What do I need to do in order to participate?
Write a proposal up to 250 words long describing the topic of the paper, the main sources used in the analysis, and the main argument or thesis. Submit your proposal to Dr. Mirna Zakić (email@example.com) by FRIDAY, MARCH 12. Remember to include your paper title!
Full papers will be due to Dr. Zakić no later than Friday, March 19, so the committee has time to prepare the schedule for the conference, which takes place 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Contact (Dr. Zakić) with any questions.
