Ohio University celebrates 50 Years of Discovery at the Edwards Accelerator Laboratory on Sept. 24-25 on the Athens campus. Some sessions also can be viewed virtually.

Alumni and the university community are invited to join past and present researchers as they talk about half a century of discovery at the Edwards Accelerator Laboratory, where the first experiments beginning in 1971.

 

Since its inception, the facility has made major scientific contributions to nuclear structure, astrophysics, applications, and instrumentation, as well as to material sciences and engineering. For the past 30 years, research has been bolstered by the collaborative environment fostered within the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (INPP)

Events on Friday, Sept. 24, begin with a welcome at 2:30 p.m., featuring several talks, including Paul Koehler '84Ph.D., faculty members David Ingram and Steven Grimes, and nuclear engineer Don Carter.

 

 

Sessions on Saturday, Sept. 25, feature faculty members Carl Brune and Zachary Meisel and alumni Aderemi Adekola '09Ph.D., Cody Parker '16Ph.D., and Kristyn Brandenburg '17M.S.
