DESCRIPTION:Suzanne Coley is a book artist\, printmaker\, and writer whose 
 work engages textile art\, printmaking\, and embroidered bindings as forms
  of literary interpretation. Through a signature process she defines as Ma
 terial Excavation\, she recomposes fabric through stitching\, layering\, a
 nd formal transformation\, treating material process as a rigorous method 
 of reading Shakespeare’s sonnets. Her bespoke textile books translate th
 e structural complexity of the sonnets into tactile\, page-based narrative
 s. \n\n \n\nColey's work is held in the collections of Ohio University Lib
 raries\, the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art\, The National Mus
 eum of Women in the Arts\, and the Folger Shakespeare Library. Her current
  project\, 52 Weeks of Shakespeare’s Sonnets\, explores the sonnets thro
 ugh complex\, tactile\, page based narratives.\n\n \n\nLight refreshments
