In his lecture, “What Should We Celebrate When We Celebrate the Fourth of July?” University of Notre Dame Professor Vincent Phillip Muñoz will explore what he calls “the three revolutions of 1776.” The American Founding Fathers’ political philosophy, according to Professor Muñoz adopted: (1) a new understanding of political authority, (2) a new conception of the purposes of government, and (3) a new formulation of the proper relationship between church and state.
