The beloved holiday classic “The Nutcracker” is coming to Ohio University Eastern’s Shannon Hall Theater stage for a special, one-night-only performance on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. This enchanting ballet, complete with dancing flowers and beautiful fairies, promises to take the audience on a magical holiday journey.

“The Nutcracker” performance is a part of Oglebay Institute’s Children’s Theatre Season, which brings classic stories from the page to the stage through theater and dance. The captivating ballet features a talented cast of beautifully costumed dancers performing on a lavish set and reveling in Tchaikovsky’s beloved score. This enchanting ballet will be performed by Oglebay Institute’s Youth Ballet Company

Based on E.T.A Hoffman’s book “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King,” the performance revolves around a young German girl named Clara. Clara falls asleep on Christmas Eve and is transported into a Christmas fantasy where a nutcracker turns into a prince, toys become soldiers, and enchanted lands are filled with dancing fairies, snowflakes, and flowers.

Tickets are on sale now and may sell out.  Purchase your tickets to attend this distinctive one-night holiday performance at www.oionline.com, by calling 304.242.7700, or at the door, while available. Doors open at 6:30pm.
