Title: An Analysis of Contributions to the Rear Inflow of Mesoscale Convective Systems
Abstract: Mesoscale convective systems (MCSs) are key contributors to severe weather and precipitation climatology in the United States. MCSs are associated with several phenomena, including low-frequency gravity waves, line-end vortices, and environmental flow, all of which can initiate or modify the structure of an MCS’s rear inflow. This study uses numerical modeling simulations to assess the contribution of these phenomena to the MCS's rear inflow.
