About this Event
1 Park Place, Athens, Ohio 45701
https://www.ohio.edu/engagement/history-heritage-programming/dr-mlk-jr-celebrationThe Ohio University and Athens communities annually honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to highlight his work toward justice for all people and his dedication to nonviolence. Join us for our 2026 celebratory brunch featuring student & community remarks and performances under this year's theme: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way.
Hear from speakers Joy Bivens, Deputy County Administrator for Franklin County Board of Commissioners’ health and human services agencies, and David Butcher, Executive Director of the Tablertown People of Color Museum.
As in years past, sponsorships are sought to defray the cost of the event and offer robust programming in celebration of MLK Week. Sponsorships are $500 and sponsors receive a table for 8 at the brunch, a certificate of sponsorship, and recognition at all MLK Week events. If your university department or community organization is interested in being a sponsor, please email cjohnson777@ohio.edu.
