Recent Fission Measurements at TUNL
The LLNL-LANL-TUNL collaboration has focused on improving nuclear data of key fission observables with emphasis on cumulative fission product yields (FPYs) from neutroninduced fission of the major actinides 235U, 238U, and 239Pu. Measurements have been performed for several important fission products as a function of incident neutron energy, with recent eLorts extending to short-lived fission products (T1/2 < 5 min) at TUNL. In addition to FPY studies, we have recently performed measurements on photofission cross sections for these actinides at photon energies below 18 MeV at the High Intensity Gamma-ray Source (HIGS) facility. This presentation will discuss the significance of these measurements and provide an overview of the experimental campaigns conducted at TUNL and HIGS.
This work was performed under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Energy by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory under contract DE-AC52-07NA27344.
