Brooke Ripley, MSES Student and Graduate of OU's Painting + Drawing MFA program, will host a talk at Kennedy Museum of Art. This program will take place in the what makes a river? exhibition which highlights works from the Kennedy Museum of Art’s collection that visualizes a human ecology, a water-aware vision of the land around us.

Ripley's talk will explore the complex impact that the mining industry has had on the Appalachian region's communities and how this complexity informed the mission of True Pigments, a social enterprise turning toxic, acid mine drainage into a resource. As True Pigments has developed, the connections between art, environment, and community enriched the process and the lives of those involved, including speaker Brooke Ripley.

This program is free and pre-registration is not required.

what makes a river?  will be on view through June 8, 2025.
