Lil Red Dress Project: Bringing Attention to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women
Join us for a powerful and meaningful event as we raise awareness for the critical issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. The Lil' Red Dress Project invites you to participate in an evening of creativity, education, and solidarity.
Event Highlights:
This event serves as a poignant reminder of the federal trust responsibility to assist tribal governments in safeguarding the lives of Native women, as clarified by the Violence Against Women Act of 2005. It also acts as a precursor to the UN's International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25th.
Why Red?
Red symbolizes the sacred life blood lost through violence against Indigenous women and girls. By wearing red and creating red dress symbols, we honor the victims and survivors while drawing attention to this ongoing crisis.
Call to Action:
We encourage all participants to wear red throughout the week of November 15-21st to show solidarity and raise awareness about the violence committed against American Indian and Alaska Native people, particularly women and children.
Join us in this important initiative to bring attention to missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Your participation helps amplify their voices and supports the ongoing fight for justice and protection.
This event is open to all members of the community. No prior beading experience is necessary – all materials and guidance will be provided.
