Linguistics Colloquium | Crafting Exceptional Learning Experiences: The Anatomy of Great Course Design, March 1
The Linguistics Colloquium series presents Dr. Patrick Mose discussing “Crafting Exceptional Learning Experiences: The Anatomy of Great Course Design” on March 1 from 12:55 to 1:50 p.m. in Gordy 310 and via Microsoft TEAMS.
Mose is a Senior Instructional Designer in the Office of Instructional Innovation at Ohio University and an alumnus of the M.A. in Applied Linguistics program at Ohio University.
Abstract: This presentation explores the definition of what makes a great course design. An excellent course design is a crucial component that shapes learning experiences and the achievement of educational goals and outcomes. A literature review draws on existing literature and empirical evidence to identify critical elements of great course designs. Key factors identified in this review include the following: effective instructional strategies for motivating and engaging learners, the role of assessment and feedback, course content design, structure, and interface. This research initiative contributes to the growing body of literature that offers instructional designers and educators' insights on effective course design and practical recommendations for designing and delivering effective courses that improve students' learning experiences.
