OHIO hosts Mock Law School class by Capital Law professor, Nov. 15
Students who are interested in attending law school will have the chance to attend a law school class without leaving the Athens campus on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. in Bentley 136.
Professor Melinda S. Molina of Capital University Law School joins the Center for Law, Justice & Culture, the Center for Advising, Career and Experiential Learning, and Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity as she presents a mock law class.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students who are interested in law school to explore legal education,” said Larry Hayman, Esq., director of legal engagement and the pre-law program at OHIO’s Center for Law, Justice & Culture and Center for Advising, Career & Experiential Learning. “Students will be able to experience the Socratic and case book methods used in law schools. At the same time, they will be able to ask questions about the law school admissions and financial aid processes and network with law school faculty and staff.”
The event is free and all students are encouraged to attend. Students are encouraged to register here via Handshake.
Molina’s scholarship focuses on how the law impacts subordinate and marginalized groups in the United States. She co-authored two national studies on Latina lawyers. The first is a comprehensive nationwide examination of Latinas in the legal profession across all major legal sectors: National Study on the Status of Latinas in the Legal Profession, Few and Far Between. The second is a subsequent study of Latina public interest attorneys: La Voz de la Abogada Latina: Challenges and Rewards in Serving the Public Interest Sector. These studies are the first of their kind to provide both qualitative and quantitative data on the experiences and status of Latinas in the legal profession, on a national level, and across all major legal sectors employing a mixed method transformative design, exploring and analyzing both the formative and career-related experiences of more than 800 Latina attorneys.
Emma Schulze, Assistant Dean of Admissions, also will be on hand to lead a discussion on admissions and financial aid.
