Panama Trip ’25 - Information Sessions

 

Join a unique, hands-on experience in Panama, where education and culture intersect in meaningful ways. During this experience, you’ll engage in service learning with a local school, working directly with students, observing classroom dynamics, and immersing yourself in the educational setting of Panama.

Trip Dates:

Sunday, May 11 to Monday, May 19, 2025

 

Cultural Excursions Include:

• Old Quarter of Panama City – tour and explore the historic old city which includes a World Heritage Site
• Embera Indigenous Tour – take a dugout boat to visit an indigenous village and learn about their unique history, culture, and traditions from the Indian Chief
 Panama Canal – take a guided tour with VIP access to the canal locks
 El Valle – Explore the biodiversity of this area which is hidden in a valley within an extinct volcano crater. You will visit Chorro Macho Waterfall, Piedras Pintadas (petroglyphs), a local flower and handcraft market, El Nispero Zoo, and a local Orchid Nursery

 

Cost includes the following (billed to your student account):

• Hotel accommodations (2 per room) which include daily breakfast
• Transportation to/from airport, school, and excursions
• Entry fees for planned excursions
• Welcome and farewell dinners
• Tuition for 3-credits, charged at regional rates
• $150 study abroad administration fee

 

Eligibility & Process:

• Must be an undergraduate education major in good standing
• Submit a personal statement, resume, and current DARS
• A $500 deposit is required and will be carried over into final cost per student
• Deadline – December 15, 2024
• Notification of acceptance by January 15, 2025
