The Physics & Astronomy Colloquium Series presents Jordi Garcia-Ojalvo of  Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain on “Collective Dynamics in Bacterial Populations”, on Friday, Sept. 25, at 4:10 p.m. at the Teams website will open 3:50 pm and will begin at 4:10 p.m.at an Online Departmental Colloquium. Abstract: In spite of their unicellular character, bacteria have powerful mechanisms that allow them to function collectively. Going beyond classical methods based on quorum sensing, in this talk I will discuss how bacteria use electrical signaling to coordinate their behavior in bacterial biofilms.

In the second part, I will focus on how antibiotic sharing impacts antibiotic tolerance in mixed bacterial populations.
