Dr. Lina Benabdallah discusses "The Belt and Road Initiative and China’s Cultural Heritage Diplomacy in Africa" on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in Bentley 233.

 

Benabdallah is Assistant Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Wake Forest University. She is a leading researcher on the role of China in the developing world, with a focus on Africa. She is the author of Shaping the Future of Power: Knowledge Production and Network-Building in China-Africa Relations (Michigan, 2000), as well as articles in International Studies Quarterly, International Studies Review, Foreign Affairs, Third World Quarterly, Journal of International Relations and Development, African Studies Quarterly, and Rising Powers Quarterly.

 

The presentation draws from a new book project on political nostalgia in Chinese government narratives on the New Silk Road. 

 

This lecture is co-sponsored by the Political Science Department in the College of Arts & Sciences, the African Studies, Asian Studies, and International Development Studies programs in the Center for International Studies, and the Contemporary History Institute.
