Visiting Artist Talcon Quinn
Public Lecture: Thursday September 4, 4:00 p.m.
Central Classroom Building, Room 310
Talcon Quinn is a multi-media Appalachian Folk Artist. Her practice is rooted
in the ancient traditional techniques of our early human ancestors. She works
exclusively with materials she sustainably harvests and processes herself such
as Willow, Bone, Copper, Oak, and Deerskin.
Weaving the past to the present, Talcon's art resonates with modern styles and
connects the viewer to a deeper sense of place. Her most recent collection of
basketry, Dear Heart; Hart Deer, complicates the role of function within her
sculptural basketry practice.
