About this Event
53 Richland Avenue, Athens, Ohio 45701
World AIDS Day, commemorated on December 1 each year, constitutes a global initiative for individuals to unite in the collective effort against HIV. This occasion serves as a platform for expressing solidarity with those living with HIV and reflecting on the lives of those who have succumbed to the virus. The event also marks a significant opportunity for our community to come together in solidarity, reflect on progress made, and address the challenges that persist in the global fight against HIV/AIDS.
This year, the Global Health Initiative, in partnership with the Translational Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program, will host a keynote address from Dr. Adom Manu entitled "Let Communities Lead: A Vehicle for Ending AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030." Dr. Manu, a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at OHIO, is an expert in public health in the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health at the University of Ghana and is currently teaching and conducting research with OHIO's Global Health Initiative. This event will take place on Wednesday, November 29, from 12 PM to 1 PM at Grover Center E304.
Established in 1988, World AIDS Day stands as the inaugural global health day, symbolizing the ongoing commitment to addressing the challenges posed by HIV/AIDS globally.
