DESCRIPTION:The XR showcase will highlight all student-produced VR and Game
  Development projects developed by J. Warren McClure School of Emerging Co
 mmunication Technologies VR and Game Development majors and Communication 
 Media Arts MFA candidates. \n\n \n\nLight refreshments will be provided.\n
 \n \n\nThis event is free and open to the public.\n \n\nDemonstrations inc
 lude:\n\nDigital gamesVR interactive experiencesMixed reality experiencesC
 ine-VR productionsResearch projectsDigital art and animationsMotion captur
 e studio demonstrations. \n\nThis event will also celebrate the 20th anniv
 ersary of the Game Research and Immersive Design (GRID) Lab. The GRID Lab 
 will debut three new projects:\n \n\nThe newest season of cine-VR experien
 ces for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA). These cine-VR exp
 eriences train law enforcement to emphasize situational decision-making to
  decrease the use of force and to refine an officer’s “soft skills” 
 (e.g.\, listening and de-escalation) techniques. The series also highlight
 s a new project with the Forensic Nursing Network\, illustrating the impor
 tance of inter-professional collaboration between law enforcement and heal
 thcare providers. More than 100 people worked on these productions\, inclu
 ding OHIO students\, alums\, faculty\, and staff in collaboration with law
  enforcement and healthcare professionals (Viewer discretion is advised du
 e to violence\, mental health crises\, adult language\, and mature situati
 ons.)\n Operation Big Missile - A virtual reality obstacle course combinin
 g game and VR development with themed entertainment effects. This satirica
 l experience places the user in the role of a new mechanic at a US Air For
 ce nuclear missile silo. There has been an accident in the silo\, and you 
 must do everything you can to prevent a missile launch. Players will be ta
 sked with physically moving around the missile silo\, solving problems\, a
 nd doing all they can to delay a launch. (Participant discretion is advise
 d due to satirical takes on military might\, the fetishization of modern t
 echnology\, and adult language). ***You must wear flat-heeled\, closed-toe
  shoes to participate.***\n Red House Detective VR - A new VR simulation t
 rains new detectives to navigate evidence collection across multiple crime
  scenes. This project is being developed in partnership with OPOTA. (Parti
 cipant discretion is advised due to suspected crimes of sexual assault and
